If the dishwasher beeps randomly when not in use, there are a few potential causes.
Many dishwashers will beep every 30 seconds if the door is not fully latched. Check that the dishwasher is fully latching and locked. A small trickle of water down the side also indicates the door is not fully latched or that there is a leak in the door seal. Close the door and see if the dishwasher finishes the cycle.
If the control panel has a display, it may show a specific error code, such as a flashing "F1." If so, check the user manual or the manufacturer's website for the code details. If the control panel does not have a digital display, it may instead have blinking lights in a specific pattern or a beeping noise to indicate the error code. Similarly you will need to check either the user manual or the manufacturer's website for the details on the flashing light pattern and beeping.
The dishwasher's control panel may be malfunctioning. The fastest way to troubleshoot is to reset the dishwasher. This can be done by turning it off then back on. If this does not work, power cycle the unit by turning it off at the circuit breaker. Wait five minutes, then turn the breaker back on. While it usually only takes a minute or two for the power to dissipate in the power system, waiting for longer allows the power to fully dissipate and forces a power cycle on the device.
Here are a few other indicators to keep in mind:
- If the reset or power button on the control panel flashes while the unit beeps, it means the device was reset and it is trying to turn off.
- The timer motor could be broken which can be replaced, OR the cycle on the unit is messed up. Choose a different cycle type to test. If this still does not work, you will need to replace the control board.
